About 15 days ago l had a high dose of mdma (300-500 mg) and about l would say a week ago l have developed this weird neck twitch that comes every like 10 seconds.

It is really bothering me and while l dont think there is anything else wrong with me, l feel really healthy and stuff, l cant seem to function with this.

The twitches come probably once every ten seconds and they are very subtle though, like if l am playing a video game or running or something l dont even notice it, but when l am reading a book or trying to study and ESPECIALLY when l am sleeping. Its like really difficult to sleep because l can hear and feel my neck twitching and l simply cant relax and go to bed continuously twitching like this.

l have been taking some benzodiazepines in real small doses because l know these drugs are dangerous and they have been helping but l simply cant live off them.

l am 17 and l dont think l can tell my parents so l dont know what to do. l dont think l can see a doctor either.
l really dont play video games, l just used it as an example because l happened to have played one today.

Post mdma neck twitch? Help really needed :(?

Ok, first off, u take a high dose of MDMA, about 3 times the normal recreational dose, & you're worried about benzodiazepines being dangerous? Sorry, just had to comment on that.

But, in answer to ur question, yes, this is most likely due to the MDMA use. MDMA causes the brain to use up all the seratonin it can giving u that euphoric high, but once u come down, ur brain is depleted of seratonin, which is why sometimes u can feel depressed or down during the comedown period.

What does this have to do with ur muscle twitching? Well, among all of the seratonin transmitters in the brain, the 5-HT2A transmitter controls, among other things, smooth muscle contractions, behavioral effects, neuronal excitation, & the CNS. So, if one of the neurotransmitters (seratonin) that MDMA effects helps control muscle contractions, it stands to reason that if the brain is drained of seratonin, there can be adverse effects.

What can u do? Well, if the benzos r helping u sleep, thats a good thing, they can be addictive, so u have to be careful, but, most likely, this problem wont last. Once the brain has replenished its levels of seratonin back to normal, then u should feel better, & generally that takes about a month.

MDMA is very dangerous & u should not be taking it. You should also not be playing around with benzodiazepines, they r very addictive. You need to see a Doctor both about the neck twitches, which is probably a muscle spasm from playing video games, which can keep u tensed up, while u r playing them. & about getting help to get away from the drugs. You r starting down a very dangerous road, & it is best to nip it in the bud before it gets any worse. ur parents care about you, they will be much releived if u come to them with a problem, than to find u dead on a street corner some where, when it is too late.

I think u should tell ur parents about the neck twitches. You do not however have to tell them WHY u think u r having them. They can get u to a doctor & then everything u tell the MD is confidential. I would recommend that u tell the doctor that ur parents r not aware of ur current partying habits & u want to keep it that way. He or she should respect this request. As far as medicating with the benzos, do not u think ur experimenting with drugs has gotten u in enough trouble? I mean, I do not mean to sound all parental & everything but u should really just see a doctor about ur problem & not try & self medicate. You could make the problem worse for all u know & the twitch might not have anything to do with the mdma at all. It could be a spastic muscle from too much video games fixed by a little physical therapy. Go see ur doc to be sure.
