I've been on ativan for about 4 years. l would like to have a couple of drinks every now and then. Last week l had a bit of a peah margarita and about 3/4 of a fuzzy navel with no ill effects. Yes, l already know you should not drink whilst taking benzodiazepines, but l know a lot of people go ahead and do it anyway. Does the time between the dosage of the drug and the consumption of alcohol matter at all? l usually take them upon waking, so if l did not drink for about 10 hours aftewards, would that be okay? l do not mean that l wanna get completely sloshed, but just a couple of drinks, maybe a nice little buzz. Any advice?

Chances are you will be fine, your not going to die if thats what you mean.

You might cross some threshold where you may have been acting whacky and did stuff you normally wouldn't, and not remember it the next day.


If you need to drink, talk half on the day of your outing so you dont have any black outs. I really dont advice doing this at all.

Becareful is all I can say. I had a horrible reaction to Ativan. I would just start with a few drinks and do not overdo it. You could black out pretty easily, so you might want to drink with someone you can trust, or at home.
